Middle Years Program Teachers
(6th, 7th & 8th)

¡HOLA!
Soy la Señora Mariana Mathews.
I’m originally from Córdoba, Argentina. I grew up living and traveling in Latin America and Spain and finally settling in Orange County, CA. I obtained my Bachelor’s in Spanish and then my Teaching Credentials and Master’s in Education at UCLA. I taught in Los Angeles and San Juan Capistrano as a dual immersion Spanish elementary school teacher. Then I took a teaching break for the past years to raise and educate my boys. I currently reside in Granite Bay with my husband, Robert, and my two amazing boys, Sebastian, a Freshmen at Northwestern University in Chicago, and Lucien also a Freshman at Del Oro High School.
I will be collaborating with Sombrero Time and our other teachers in promoting Spanish and the Latin culture at LBCS. My goal is to integrate Spanish to our IB curriculum and get the students motivated and excited to know and use Spanish in their daily lives. In conjunction with Sombrero Time, I will have the pleasure to get to know and teach all of our students. My hope is for them to embrace cultural diversity, be exposed to Latin cultures and continue learning the Spanish Language.

Mi nombre es Señora Martinez, I was born and raised in Colombia. I graduated as a Dentist in Bogota, Colombia in 1990. I moved to Sacramento in 1992. While my daughters were little I decided to stay at home raising them and also taught art classes for preschool and elementary school children. Currently I live in Folsom with my two daughters. I love children and teaching! I’m very passionate about my culture, my heritage, my Spanish language and would love to pass along this love for the Spanish culture to all my students. I’ve been with Sombrero Time for ten years and I teach at Loomis Basin Charter School, run the Spanish Summer Camps at the Sombrero Time Center in Granite Bay. I’m really excited to be a part of this Spanish immersion program. My goal is to get my students excited about Spanish, train them to speak, write and ultimately think in Español! I look forward to making this another fun and successful year for all my students and will count on your support for a successful Sombrero Time! Hasta pronto!

Hola! Yo soy la Maestra Sandra Stiebler. Born in Oxnard, CA. and raised in Colombia, South America, I have 22 years of experience in the field of education. A Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages Teaching (Spanish & English) allows me to understand my students’ needs so that they can reach their fullest linguistic potential. Connecting with children is probably the main attribute I have as educator and my greatest reward is the privilege to witness how people grow day after day. Life has allowed to live with a loving husband and to be proud of a talented artist, Maria Paula, my beautiful daughter. My passion for life is based on a strong commitment to being happy every single day and to help others achieve the same while learning the Spanish Language.
